The Cypriot City Paradigm. Urbanity Issues in Design and Planning

N. Patsavos & I. A. Pissourios

One of the most characteristic features of urban space in Cyprus is its low density. This is a feature that is not consistent with either the size of the island and the need to limit the extent of its cities, nor with local climate conditions and Cypriot culture, which has historically created places marked by their vitality. Along with a detailed understanding of the reasons behind this reality, there is an urgent need to start a debate on the question of our future architectural and urban planning choices, as part of the exploration and shaping of a sustainable, quality urban space. It is this debate that we hope to place before the public with the publication of the present volume.

The book was funded by the Cyprus Architects Association.

Cultural Heritage & Sustainable Development. An Educators Manual

I. A. Pissourios & M. Sioulas

This book is an Educator’s Handbook for seminars on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development, but it can also serve as the main textbook for related undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It is a collective work and the intellectual output of InHeriT: Promoting Cultural Heritage as a Generator of Sustainable Development, a joint interdisciplinary international ERASMUS+ project that aims to raise public awareness of the economic value of built cultural heritage and its crucial role in fostering regional and local development. All sessions and participation activities included in the handbook are accompanied by presentation files (.ppt), which are available for download on the InHeriT webpage.

Architektonikes Theseis – Architecture Theses | 1

E. Dova & I. A. Pissourios

The publication Architektonikes Theseis – Architecture Theses | 1 contains the diploma projects of the graduates of the Program in Architecture offered by the Department of Architecture, Land and Environmental Sciences of the Neapolis University Pafos, which were completed between 2015 and 2020. In other words, it presents the work of the architecture students who studied in the first ten years of operation of the Program, from 2010 to 2020. It also includes the extracurricular activities of the Department (exhibitions, workshops, events), in order to highlight the research directions, practical inquiries and spatial desires of the Department’s students and faculty, while exploring the position of the Program in the wider field of architectural education.
